The Main Event
UFC 238 is headlined by a big bout for the vacant UFC Bantamweight Championship. The title was previously held by T.J. Dillashaw, who carried the belt since November of 2017. However, he vacated the title in January of 2019, after only one title defense. As part of a bid to become a two weight champion, Dillashaw moved to Flyweight only to be TKOed in 32 seconds. The night went from bad to worse for T.J. when it was revealed that he twice tested positive for EPO, a performance-enhancing drug. Dillashaw vacated his title, and is now suspended for two years.
Henry "The Messenger" Cejudo (14-2) is the Flyweight champion who knocked Dillashaw out so quickly in his last fight. Now he is attempting a move of his own up to Bantamweight. Cejudo has had an outstanding career so far as an Olympic gold medal freestyle wrestler and MMA title holder. Henry has also had a great run in the UFC so far, rising to his first title shot in just five fights.
He lost that first match against Demetrious Johnson in 2016 by TKO, but defeated him to claim the Flyweight championship in a rematch in 2018. The UFC has Cejudo ranked 4th pound-for-pound, the top ranking in the promotion, and he is considered by many to be the sport's best wrestler. The biggest challenge he faces, beyond his opponent, is maintaining his strength and power without losing speed as he adjusts to the heavier weight class.
Marlon "Magic" Moraes (22-5-1) is currently the top ranked Bantamweight in the UFC, after only five fights in the promotion. One reason for this high ranking is the success he has had in the sport outside of the UFC. Moraes built a record of 18-4-1, including eleven straight victories in the World Series of Fighting. He was the Bantamweight champion for over two years, defending the title five times before dropping the title to move to the UFC.
Moraes presents a contrast in styles to the wrestler Cejudo, blending Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu into a hard striking combination of big punches, knees, and kicks. In his short UFC career, he has beaten the best of the Bantamweights, including the current #2 and #3 ranked contenders over the last 18 months. Without Dillashaw to challenge, Moraes looks to complete his rise to the top by blocking Cujedo's quest to become a two weight champion.

The main card also features a Co-main event for the Women's Flyweight Title. The champion, Valentina "Bullet" Shevchenko (16-3), is defending her title against top contender Jessica Eye (14-6). Shevchenko is a top fighter of a variety of styles, including boxing, judo, Muay Thai and Taekwondo, and she is the 14th ranked pound-for-pound fighter. Jessica Eye has a similar variety of style, but adds wrestling for added grappling.
