Apple introduces watchOS 6 with new watch faces and more
Apple's newest update for Apple Watch will feature independent apps and a new cycle tracking app.
Apple on Monday gave fans their first look at watchOS 6, the next big update for the Apple Watch. The new update is expected to be available this fall.
The first thing Apple talked about was new watch faces, including a California dial, a solar face, and more. Many of the new faces support complications, which is to be expected. Apple said that as part of the new watch faces, the Apple Watch will support audible chimes—or a Taptic chime—every hour on the hour.
WatchOS 6 also now supports, audiobooks, voice memos, and a calculator, the latter of which will feature a tip calculator. All of these apps can run independently on the Watch without a companion app. As part of this new feature, Apple Watch users can browse the App Store from the wearable and even download apps independently.
