These Groot Funko Pop! figures are adorable
Groot's journey has been a delight to watch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The sentient tree — who Thor affectionately calls Tree — made his debut in Guardians of the Galaxy and has become a crowd favorite, thanks in part to his trademark phrase, "I am Groot!" When he's not disassembling alarms or taking down bad guys, he enjoys dancing and video games. He also makes for a fantastic Funko Pop!
Too cute
Dancing Groot
Staff pick
Dancing Groot captured the hearts of audiences everywhere when he boogied to The Jackson Five's "I Want You Back" in the first Guardians movie. The Funko Pop! figure paints an adorable smile on the beloved character as he shakes and shuffles in his tiny pot.
Cute but dangerous
Groot with Bomb
If you thought Dancing Groot was adorable, wait until you see Baby Groot. He becomes decidedly less adorable when you realize he's holding a bomb that can wipe out the whole block. Let's hope he doesn't push the big red button.
Thanos killing kind
Groot with Stormbreaker
When Thor goes on his hero's journey to create Stormbreaker, Rocket and adolescent Groot tag along. It was a good thing too, because Groot winds up piecing the weapon together, saving Thor's life in the process. Never say teenagers only care about themselves.
"Hi Groot!"
Baby Groot - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
When Baby Groot isn't spazzing out with bombs, he's helping the team destroy alien monsters. This Funko Pop! figure shows the adorable character with a smile on his face and his hand raised up, either ready to give you a high five or to slice your jugular.
Typical teen
Teen Groot - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
If you thought Baby Groot was cute, Teen Groot is pretty much the opposite. Like most adolescents, Teen Groot is full of painful angst, because saving the universe can be hard on a person's social life. And, like, he's just so over authority. Just look at his crossed arms and look of annoyance.
Watch your language
Teen Groot - Avengers: Infinity War
By the time we see Teen Groot in Avengers: Infinity War, he's become even more angsty. Rather than engaging with those around him, he spends his time playing video games and talking back — sometimes with foul language. Who knew a talking tree could have such a bad attitude?
Sweet tooth
Baby Groot with Candy
Even sentient trees have a sweet tooth. Although, I must say that Baby Groot doesn't look particularly happy holding such a large bowl of candy. Maybe it's because trees don't eat candy, or maybe it's because Groot doesn't like the candy he's been given. Either way, he looks darn cute.
Favorite music
Groot with Mix Tape
Guardians of the Galaxy and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 both had fantastic soundtracks, with a selection of classic hits that help tell the story. This Funko Pop! figure shows Baby Groot proudly holding one of Peter Quill's mixtapes, which Groot no doubt wants to dance to.
Flashy Groot
Groot (Gold Chrome)
Groot is the furthest thing from flashy, but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy the character decked out in gold. This Funko Pop! figure celebrates ten years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe by taking the adorable Dancing Groot and covering it in gold chrome.
Fetch quest
Groot with Cyber Eye
In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Groot is sent on a series of fetch quests. This winds up featuring some of the movie's funniest moments — including one with a cyber eye — and it also sets some powerful narrative beats between Yondu and Rocket.
The OG
Groot - Guardians of the Galaxy
This figure features the original Groot who audiences first saw in Guardians of the Galaxy. That version of Groot followed Rocket around on his bounty hunting missions as the two kicked butt and took names. Name a more iconic duo.
Not to be messed with
Baby Groot Ravager Outfit
He may look cute and he may look small, but he's as dangerous as any Avenger of Guardian. When Groot gets mad aboard the Ravager ship, he shows the group what a tiny sentient tree is capable of, and it isn't pretty. Note to self: Don't make Groot angry.
Old Groot, young Groot, we love them all
The funny thing about our favorite superheroes is that they don't really age. With Groot, we've seen him as an adult, a baby, and a teenager, so we've sort of been able to watch him age! Each version has exhibited its own personality, too, which is an accomplishment for Marvel considering Groot is a tree.
By far our favorite Funko Pop! figure is of Groot dancing in his little pot. This version of Groot showed up at the end Guardians of the Galaxy and basically stole the show. It's one of my favorite Marvel moments to this day.
Our second choice is essentially the same Funko Pop! figure, but this one celebrates ten years of the MCU. As such, it features a flashy gold chrome coating that makes it look like a valuable treasure. It's particularly valuable, but it looks pretty adorable.
